14. This week, we are looking at an issue that could arise in a believer’s life after you have dealt with #SoulTies
15. I want to label this “Errors of the past”. You will only fully grasp the title when you’ve read all my scenarios. #SoulTies
16. A central pillar of the gospel of Christ is the forgiveness of our sins. Without this, there isn’t any gospel. #SoulTies
17. However, it’s crucial for us to note that there are a few players in the spiritual equation around us #SoulTies
18. Player 1: God. John 4:24 God is a spirit. He is father to whom have accepted His Son, Jesus Christ. #SoulTies
19. Player 2: Man. The saved man is described as a new creature in Jesus Christ. 2 Cor 5:17 #SoulTies
20. Player 3: Angels. They have been sent by God to minister to us. Ps 103:20 #SoulTies
21. Player 4: Satan & Demons. They constantly work against God & His purposes for man. Eph6:12 #SoulTies
22. Jesus purchased the forgiveness of sins for us by going to the cross. Col 2:13 #SoulTies
23. Col 2:13a And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, #SoulTies
24. Col 2:13b hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; #SoulTies
25. Almost every Christian denomination agrees on the doctrine of God’s forgiveness for our sins. #SoulTies
26. However, I have these scenarios to present that will set us thinking. #SoulTies
27. Scenario 1: Many years ago, a Unilag student habitually stole clothes belonging to other students. #SoulTies
28. She did this by going to the line where other students hung their clothes and then helped herself. #SoulTies
29. Somehow, she attended a Christian gathering on campus and received Jesus Christ into her life. #SoulTies
30. Two things happened to her. 1. She received the forgiveness of God for her sins. Col 2:13 #SoulTies
31. 2. She became a new creation in Christ and lost the taste for stealing other peoples clothes. 2 Cor 5:17 #SoulTies
32. Job done! She’s forgiven, sanctified, has her ticket punched for heaven, #SoulTies with stealing broken.
33. At this point, we should be satisfied that Christ’s redemption work was fulfilled in her. #SoulTies
34. However, one day she decided to return the clothes she stole as an unbeliever to where she took them from. #SoulTies
35. Shock! Shock! The owners saw her, confronted her and assembled a mob to lynch her. #SoulTies
36. All her pleas that she was now a born-again Christian fell on deaf ears as she got beaten the more. #SoulTies
37. All her pleas that she was now reformed in character fell on deaf ears. However, she got rescued by some Christians. #SoulTies
38. Debate then started on campus. Should she have been let off seeing that she was changed and returning the loot? #SoulTies
39. What happened to God’s forgiveness? How come she got beaten up so badly despite God’s forgiveness? #SoulTies
40. Please reply me with your opinion. I won’t take any sides. Should she have been let off by the owners or not? #SoulTies
41. The owners were not buying the God’s forgiveness plea. Do you think they were wicked or reasonable? #SoulTies
42. Do you think it was a smart move returning the clothes and almost getting killed in the process?
43. My little contribution here is that God’s forgiveness wasn’t enough to help avert d consequences of her actions from men. #SoulTies
44. Scenario 2
45. A married mother who wasn’t saved started having a fling with her boss. Her husband wasn’t saved either. #SoulTies
46. Oops! She got pregnant for her boss and decided to have this love child. She also slept with her husband to deceive him. #SoulTies
47. She had this child and husband believed that was his fourth child but didn’t her boss was the real dad. #SoulTies
48. 10 years later, she got saved, forgiven, sanctified, filled with the Holy Ghost, reformed, heaven-bound. #SoulTies
49. She then decided to let her husband know that the child wasn’t his but her ex-boss’s child. Child is now 10. #SoulTies
50. Her husband was having none of this forgiveness thing and he headed for the divorce courts. #SoulTies
51. He insisted on smashing the marriage and taking the kids though deed was done in the wife’s wild oat days. #SoulTies
52. Once again, a forgiven saint had to face the consequences of her pre-Christian era actions. #SoulTies
53. My questions to y’all are these. Were these people really forgiven by God as we believe from the scriptures? #SoulTies
54. If yes, how come they met with these consequences that would make us think God was still angry against them? #SoulTies
55. Could it be that we have only peddled half of the medication to sinners and missed out the other half? #SoulTies
56. What went wrong with these 2 people in these scenarios? #SoulTies
57. Before you think you have the answers, let me throw a provocative question at you. #SoulTies
58. Imagine you married your wife of husband while you are still both in the world. #SoulTies
59. Imagine both of you got saved the same day in church, filled with the Holy Ghost, tongue talking etc #SoulTies
60. Then your spouse confesses to you he did the last 3 maids or she did the last 3 houseboys. #SoulTies
61. What would your reaction be? Would God’s forgiveness still count for you? Will you scatter things? #SoulTies

Hmm, today’s tweets. How far can we push God’s forgiveness?
I believe we can push as far as the word permits. Yes, when we
repent, we obtain forgiveness but because of the natural law of
sowing and reaping, our actions have consequences and the word
permits that. For Scenario 1, the Unilag girl, I believe that we
dont automatically get a clean slate with men when we are forgiven
by Christ as regards our sins against men. We are forgiven of the
eternal damnation but by sowing and reaping, there are physical
repercussions for sins and unlike God who washes our sins into a
sea of forgetfulness, we cannot make men forget. So back to the
lady, I do not think a physicial restitution as she sought to do
was applying wisdom. Men are NOT God and the mere act of confessing
and forsaking a sin guarantees us God’s forgiveness and not men’s
forgiveness. I’d liken it to restituting by physical confession to
a woman whose husband a lady had been involved in an adulterous
relationship with. God has forgiven but it is an entirely different
scenario with the woman. She is NOT God. You can’t force God’s
forgiveness on her. That was what the Unilag lady appeared to be
doing. There’s sins strictly against God. There’s sins against
one’s self and and then,there’s sins against people and restitution
as regards sins against people should always be guided. Do you
return stolen goods to the police to be charged for theft and
jailed after being born again? Can you force God’s forgiveness on
the normal law process? Thinking about forgiveness again reminds me
of David in Psalm 51. Yes, God forgave him after he repented but
his adultery had implications, far reaching past the death of the
baby. The implications of his sin outlived him in the physical. The
whole saga had it’s toll on David’s family, his sons were
scattered. Infact, by that act of adultery, David opened himself to
permit legal entrance of the sins of his father. Remember that he
was a descendant of a mix of Rahab (prostitution) and Ruth
(Moabite/incest), so his inability to resist the Bathsheba
temptation opened his family to the sins of his fathers. Amnon
raped Tamar, Absalom slept with David’s concubines and rebelled
against him. My little point here is, does this mean David was not
forgiven by God? Of course he was. He was a man after God’s heart
but his sins had their consequences. We are forgiven by God and
assured of salvation from eternal damnation but actions have
consequences. Apologies for my lengthy comment. 🙂 Just my two
cents.

Hmmmmmmm, it doesn’t matter if God forgives us our sin,we will still pay for the sins,according to the law of KARMA. And also RESTITUTION is needed. And I believe that before we take action to RESTITUTE, we need to get God involve and pray and fast very well about how will want to do it. Committing the person heart into God. So that God can take CONTROL. This is my own VIEW.

The Bible says “no sinner will go unpunished” this is where
the gospel of restitution comes in. For you to be fully free of ur
sin u must restitute. Though your sin may have been wiped away by
his grace n mercy in the book of record and the devil will have no
ground to punish you. Check story of David when he had baby by one
of his general’s wife, God did forgive him but the boy died and a
curse was place on david that blood shedding will not stop in his
house. Back to the last question, before any response I will seek
God directiin on the issue.

When one becomes born again, his or her sins are forgiven but there are always consequences of past sins that are not just wiped away. I was reading the account of Esau and Jacob and how Jacob tricked his father (with support from his mother) and then I saw the account of how he went to serve laban for a number of years under some unpalatable conditions (genesis 31). My point is this, no matter what, the law of sowing and reaping would always hold and as such, the consequences of past sins are still there for us to bear.
However, when it comes to the issue of restitution, I believe one should be directed by the Holy Spirit on how to go about it (John 16:13). The tweet said the lady in scenario one decided ( she wasn’t nudged by the Holy Spirit).
In both scenarios, I believe with prayer and the leading of the Holy Spirit, the individuals could have a “soft landing”.
As to the last scenario you painted, that one is quite tough oo but cos of the complexities of human behavior when faced with situations. However, I’d take solace in 1st Corinthians 10:13

“Do not be
deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a
man sows, this he will also reap” ( Gal. 6:7).
After receiving divine mercy, some believers
expect the Father to miraculously erase the
cost of their sinful choices.
Forgiveness and consequences are not
opposite ends of a spectrum. Together, they
establish an essential part of the Lord’s plan
for believers.
Forgiveness is relational. The Father sent
Jesus to make a sacrifice on our behalf, and
by so doing reconciled us to Himself. By His
mercy alone, we can have communion with
the Lord.
On the other hand, consequences are
circumstantial.
The woman who had an
affair realizes, deep in her heart, that her
ruined marriage was a direct consequence of
her sinful choice. God does not
often remove consequences like these simply
because someone trusts Christ as Savior or
confesses sin.
Christ made it clear that the
thief dying with him was completely forgiven
( Luke 23:39-43). Yet moments later, the
man died an excruciating death. His sins had
been erased in God’s sight, but he suffered
the punishment for his crime.
Consequences from sin are not an indication
that a person isn’t saved or that God is angry
with the individual. The Lord frequently
allows some painful situations to continue so
He can teach us lessons we would otherwise
never learn. For example, suffering caused
by sin can lead us in quiet desperation to
seek God’s forgiveness. Very few things
motivate us to give Him our undivided
attention like being faced with the cost of
our wrong choices. When we draw near to
the Lord, He reveals how to respond
correctly to painful circumstances.
Unprecedented spiritual growth will often
result.
Don’t spend the bulk of your time trying to
convince God to remove painful
consequences. Try praising Him instead. In
His wisdom, the Lord allows these reminders
to keep you away from further sin and its
effects. As you humble yourself before Him,
ask the Father to give you the ability and
courage to walk away from sin and toward
His almighty arms. Begin “sowing” to please
the Spirit rather than your flesh. God may
never change your circumstances, but He
will renew your strength and change your
life.

Questions worth giving attentive thoughts to – 2 Scenarios,
3 Questions. For the First Scenario, I think She must have thought
of the consequences or maybe not but for her to take that move, I
think she was convinced to do so either by her thoughts or the Holy
Spirit. The Fact that she got rescued meant that God was with her
and she JUST had to suffer for the Pre-Christian race she ran –
Some how, some way, the seeds sown in the PAST will have to give
its FRUITS. The Second Lady I am sure never knew she was going to
be saved someday – It takes only an Understanding Man to ignore our
past when it comes to his notice. Perhaps the husband was not saved
like she eventually got saved. The Husbands reaction was what
almost every person will do even if the other party has his own
PAST (Whoever is caught stealing is the Person YOU point fingers to
as THIEF) as it concerns Defiling the Marriage VOWS. Nonetheless,
God gave his forgiveness and it can’t be changed or questioned for
the both scenarios but at some point in time, they sowed seeds that
they had to reap! There is always a time for REAPING. Finally, If I
get saved same day with my spouse and we get to know she had a play
with the house helps or even anyone outside, will have to forgive
like I got forgiven but sincerely a typical mind will have to
fights battles with his thoughts. I will prefer she doesn’t tell me
at all and we move on from where we started. Meanwhile there are
people who will just let go without any battles – I am one of those
who will let go but with many battles with my mind and heart and
this will be because I now have a better understanding of what
JESUS did on the CROSS for me. K-KAY!

for us all to have a good read with. So many times we get hunted by
our PAST and it seems like God left us or never forgave US – Is it
really so ? Does God’s forgiveness clear the FACT that what we sow,
we’ll surely reap in one way or the other? Does it also change the
FACT that what goes up will one day come down? or perhaps hat What
goes Around come AROUND. Trust me, I am deep in thoughts an I will
like your sincere opinions as we all will learn from each other

Wow! A very loaded question, which I would also want a scriptural answer to. God’s forgiveness is absolute but in the eyes of men especially those who knew your past might find it hard to forgive, forget or not judge you for it.. So I think its left to the individual to pray that God touches the heart of those they have offended and time to show the love of Christ she has now received.
As for the lady! Was she acting based on the leading of the holy spirit:John 14:26 or trying to prove a religious point. If you believe you have been saved you don’t need to go around working out your righteousness, if the holy spirit direct to confess, return stolen item its okay am sure nobody will kill you in the process cause am sure from the word,Christ want us to have A life and not die after we repent John10:10… As for the couple, its really hard to swallow such confession and it might take time for either one of them to get over it but they are now born again and have to act like one by forgiving, showing that love of Christ which they received from.Christ freely to one another as hard as it ismay be and allow the holy spirit guide them through the healing process… It can only get better!
